This program provides an opportunity to meet the experts and discuss evidence-based medicine as it relates to the clinical diagnosis, treatment, and management of hypertension.

SYPOSIUM OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
• Apply the results of recent hypertension trials to formulate treatment decisions
• Explain the cluster of risk factors that constitutes the metabolic syndrome
• Recognize the value of, and options for, treatment of the metabolic syndrome
• Identify resistant hypertension and explain the value of combination drug therapies in its treatment
• Critically evaluate the efficacy of home blood pressure measurement, the role of beta blockers in the management of hypertension, and the importance of the diagnosis and management of prehypertension
• Discuss the clinical significance of new onset diabetes
