| THE TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION: a story of myths, misconceptions, controversies and heroics |
| In his completely updated and revised second edition, Dr. Marvin Moser focuses on the devastating consequences caused by untreated hypertension. His riveting presentation of arguably the most famous hypertensive patient, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, demonstrates the dreadful consequences of uncontrolled high blood pressure. Management of this public health problem has evolved over this past century; hypertension was once considered to have beneficial effects on health since the higher the pressure, the better the circulation. This rudimentary misdiagnosis along with other myths and misconceptions regarding the treatment of hypertension are discussed and debunked by Dr. Moser. He salutes those whose scientific inquiries and contrarian thought brought effective forms of treatment to the suffering patient. These heroes and the patients who trusted them are the real story of the success of hypertension control. |
